Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision of Executive Clinical management, utilizing a high level of expertise, knowledge and experience, performs professional work by providing psychiatric services and oversight to an adult population composed of persons with substance-use disorders, SMI, dual-diagnoses and/or referred persons. Provides clinical leadership in the supervision of medical providers and medical staff; participates in clinical strategic planning initiatives and ongoing activities; responsible for prescribing and monitoring of medications; provides direct psychiatric services; participates in coordination of care with behavioral health and physical health medical providers; collaborates as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team; providing training related to mental health, medical conditions, preventative health and medications to Lifewell employees; consults on crisis management and other clinical matters as needed; performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a member of the executive management team, consulting on organizational, programmatic, planning, budgeting and other matters related to clinical treatment program issues.
  • Responsible for the oversight of medical staff in prescribing and monitoring of medications following Lifewell’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Establishes performance measures, assesses and evaluates operations, and works with department management to assure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Available and responsible for on-call consultation for all Lifewell programs as indicated and may provide direct psychiatric services.
  • Provides direct supervision to all medical providers and medical staff to include performance management, production monitoring, clinical oversight and resource planning. Available for consultation on all behavioral health or physical health matters relating to Lifewell service recipients.
  • At the executive level, participates in development of the strategic plan for behavioral health and whole health services including outcomes analysis, practice protocols, quality of care, employee development and population management.
  • Participates in program planning and policy formulation for the organization.
  • Maintains communication with other agencies, referral sources and care providers on behalf of the Lifewell.
  • Participates in organization and stakeholder meetings, staff meetings and other professional committees as assigned.

Skills / Requirements

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of Doctor of Medicine (MD) from an accredited school and demonstrates ongoing evidence of continuing medical education.
  • Experience in an administration capacity and providing services in a publicly funded behavioral health delivery system preferred.
  • Ongoing maintenance of an active medical license and current D.E.A. licensure.
  • Completion of residency in Adult Psychiatry from an approved program.
  • Hold a current/valid license to practice medicine in the state of Arizona.
  • Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
